Hi folks Kathleen here with a review of Raquel Welch’s Cover Girl. She’s been around awhile yet I haven’t seen many photos or reviews of her. One of my all time favorite reds is Glazed Fire which is a color offered on Cover Girl and so before she is discontinued I thought I’d better check her out. I am soooo glad I did! Wow what a gorgeous style. All the bells and whistles as they say…plenty of hair and body. I am finding some of the newer styles are providing less and less hair density. I love a natural density wig but some have gone too far in my opinion. CC doesn’t rely on those short hairs you see so much of (on the newer styles to give lift to a mono top wig). We the consumer have been so vocal that we don’t want any permatease and that we want low density wigs that I think that is their way of solving that request.
So image 2 …pretty but hard to tell what she really looks like from one photo. A lace front and mono top I love that and quite rare to find on a short/pixie. So light also…only 2.25 oz I was hooked.
Image 3 shows CC from the front..she balances out my chubby cheeks just fine. Lol 😉Seriously she’s really comfy and I was surprised it wasn’t flat on top. There is a slight curve (this isn’t a stick straight style) to the hair so you can achieve some nice lift just by fluffing her up with your fingers…all this without permatease or those little short hairs I just mentioned. I looked and had a hard time seeing any permatease..just behind the mono top there is some slight permatease to help cover the wefts. I had to really go looking for any though. So if you don’t like permatease you will love Cover Girl.
I would say the hair has a medium denier and she’s soft and not coarse which is very nice. She’s not so silky that she’s overly shiny either.
Ahhh a temple to temple lace front and a full coverage mono top. Some mono tops I’ve seen stop about half way across the top of my head and the rest is a rose lace covered permatease area. Not with Cover Girl! I love this because I can part her anywhere I want. CC fits true to average. There is some space between the mono top and my head..that almost always happens because I have a flat head..lol. If you have an average head Cover Girl will fit you beautifully.
Look at image 6 in amazement…lol…yeah I know unbelievable huh? Now you know I have boring super thin bio hair so how did I get this natural looking part?
Tip: So I decided where I wanted to part my CC and on the inside of my wig I placed a piece of flesh colored soft silicone medical tape on the part area. It’s an awesome trick. You know the area where the seam always shows? This tape obscures it so it’ll look seamless between your lace front and mono top.
This color..sigh…its gorgeous. My first red and still one of my favorites. A medium Irish red with lighter ginger red highlights. Very pretty and surprisingly natural. Not as warm as Sunset Red by Tony of Beverly and not as cool as Lighter Red by Envy. Glazed Fire sits right in the middle of these two reds. Out of all the reds I’ve tried these are about the only true Irish reds I have found. There are some beautiful natural brownish ginger reds and a lot of darker cooler (plum toned) fashion reds but very few Irish reds. Glaze Fire never disappoints me I love it.
With a longer front fringe and sideburns Cover Girl is a wonderful choice for someone who wants a pixie with a feminine touch the longer front will give her…or who has been thinking of trying a pixie but was afraid to go super short.
Open ear tabs make it easier for glass wearers. The tabs are smaller too so this area doesn’t feel as bulky.
I love the back of Cover Girl or more specifically the nape area. Its so wispy and natural looking.its funny because it lays so beautifully and hugs my neck that I swore it had stays in the nape. It has an open extended nape but no stays. This cap was designed so well that it doesn’t need those stays for the hair to lay nicely. Very impressed.
The lace front is a little sparse but those knots are very tiny and tightly knotted. The front hairline even before I trim the lace is nearly invisible when I wear her…on this white wig head its more apparent.
The take away here is don’t overlook the older styles offered by wig companies. I’m as guilty as they come…I wait impatiently for new styles to come out…sidetracked by the new shiny penny. 😜 Cover Girl is a gorgeous well made mono topped lace front chic pixie that will turn heads. I highly recommend her. Enjoy!
