Hi folks Kathleen here with my review thoughts and comparisons of Arya a new short bob with long side swept bangs by Tony of Beverly. An adorable or edgy bob you pick. There are loads of layers and if you want Arya can be styled into quite a piecey bob. Another winner for Tony of Beverly in my book.
When I first saw the product photos I thought..oh cute another short bob with very long bangs. She looked rather full so I thought she had a lot of permatease. I was very happy to see she had a lace front and mono part. This is my favorite cap construction. I get the realism I want but without the price tag of a 100% hand tied or mono top wig.
Above (image 3) is me with Arya just literally plopped on my head. I was careful not to do anything to her. Why did I do this? Because I don’t want you to be scared off or disappointed when you open the box and see Arya is nothing like her product photo. My first impression was wow she’s sleek and flat! Now let me stop here and just say if you have a small face and/or like a smooth sleek bob. You’re done! Arya is perfect for you right out of the box. I need some volume on top and on the sides to balance out my face. 😜 But all you need to do is re-part her with your handy dandy Jon Renau wide tooth comb (she comes from the manufacturer with a zig-zag part) and she’s ready to wear with an almost flapper girl feel to her. ☺️
So when I was still wearing Arya I started feeling the cap and couldn’t really feel any permatease. Hmmm all I felt was my head. I took her off my head and shook her to help get those hair fibers released and away from the cap. I parted her. While she was upside down I combed through her with just my fingers. Then I started working the fibers away from the cap with my fingers. Ahh there is permatease (very very little) that was a bit compressed so I worked on “ waking up” the permatease. I discovered that Arya has lots and lots of layers..and with a little more manipulation and just the heat from my hands and fingers came up with the look in (image 4) Arya has an amazing lace front. I love that TOB used the highlight colors on the lace front. This helps with realism and disguises the knots.
Right away I was reminded of another Tony of Beverly bob in Sunset Red that I have and love…Pippa. Pippa has a full mono top (vs Arya that has only a mono part) along with a lace front. The main differences are Pippa has more hair density and basically is longer on the sides and has no real bang.
On the wig heads it was hard to see the differences so here are a few photos (images 6-8) of me wearing Arya & Pippa with the same make up and with the same lighting conditions to compare them. Notice above in image 6 the color range of Sunset Red. Pippa is lighter and warmer because she has more of the ginger red/blonde highlights. I also styled these wigs in a similar fashion so the differences are more apparent.
One of the main differences is that Pippa doesn’t have a bang like Arya has. Now granted Arya has quite a long bang and for me I love her best with the bang swept to the side. Its cute in image 9. I just know it would drive me crazy being this long. Trimming the bangs to suit your face would be easy though. 😉
The hair density is fairly light I would say. That makes it easy to tuck the hair behind your ears as illustrated in image 10. I can tuck the hair without the thickness of the hair making my ears stick out. Btw that’s how I judge the density of a wig. If it makes my ears stick out or the hair won’t stay behind my ears its not “tuck behind the ear worthy”…😉 since my hair is not this gorgeous red I might take a little of the hair and trim it (mini sideburns) so it will hide my bio hair and look more believable when I wear it like this. Man look at hat hairline its unbelievable realistic. ❤️
I take a zillion photos when I do these reviews. 😜 I am always looking for that shot that captures the color of the wig I am reviewing. Sunset Red happens to be one of my favorite Irish reds. Its dynamic yet natural. Image 11 captures all the colors that go into making this gorgeous color. Isn’t it stunning? I never get tired of it.
Image 12 is a collage of Arya after I have finally styled her to my liking. As much as I love Pippa for me she’s a little long for everyday use. Stop laughing..I hear you..lol. 🙋 Seriously Arya is a perfect length. I can wear her all day and she doesn’t flop in my eyes. Even my husband said how much he likes her. That’s saying a lot. He is super supportive of my wigs and says he likes them all, but I know he doesn’t really. 😉
The take away here is if you love Pippa by Tony of Beverly but want something shorter that is still a bob and that has bangs and with less density than Arya would be perfect. Enjoy!
Heres my little video of Arya illustrating her movement and texture. 😊
