Hi folks Kathleen here with my review of Siciliano by BelleTress in the most beautiful blonde, in my opinion, Champagne With Apple Pie. She is a sweet, sassy, easy going curly short bob and absolutely beautiful.
I love the way BelleTress packages their wigs. Very classy. When I opened the box (image 2) I was thrilled to see this color and those curls. The product images show Siciliano styled in a classic bob with the curls almost entirely smoothed out. Very pretty indeed but for me the more curls the better…lol 😉
I have seen enough wigs right out of the box to know when one will work or not work just by looking at it sometimes. Especially with curly wigs. Take a look at image 4. I am totally thrilled when I saw Siciliano on my head for the first time. Not styled or anything, I hadn’t so much as given her a shake. I love the length..mid face to around my mouth is a flattering length on me. I have a full oblong face and curls that hit me mid face help balance it out.
Image 5 was taken seconds later after I gave her a little shake and re parted her. At this point that’s all I did…much better than image 4 right? BelleTress hair fibers are so soft fine and light. These curls are as light and airy as they appear in this photo.
Images 6-10 illustrates Siciliano’s beautiful curl pattern and this blonde color accurately. These photos were taken in natural light coming from my kitchen windows. Even light, not overly bright or low. I take great pains to capture the true color of my wigs that I review. As an artist it’s my “thing” you could say. ☺️ These light airy curls look like they were made using pin curls. That’s how I curled my hair when I was young because my hair was too thin to hold rollers. Siciliano has light hair density but no wefts show at all so not super light just very natural.
Look at these curls and this color Champagne With Apple Pie. So gorgeous. A soft warm but never yellow or brassy blonde with a very light soft brown to a warm dark blonde root.
Since Belletress fibers are heat friendly there is very little shine. I especially appreciate that quality on a blond wig since regular synthetic blonde wigs can be very shiny. Sure you can spray them with dry shampoo etc. but that changes the texture and movement of the wig fibers. With Siciliano I didn’t need to do a thing to make her less shiny. BelleTress fibers are very realistic both visually and to the touch.
Look how the root in image 9 just melts into the main color. If my hair were this root color in real life it’s believable (so ultra realistic) that I could dye my hair this color blonde.
BelleTress isn’t known for their lace fronts. They’re fairly straight across and the knots can look pluggy. I was very happy with the lace front on my Siciliano. The knots are small, well spaced and tightly knotted. I can style her off my face with confidence. This root color is fairly light and coupled with my skin tone these knots are barely visible on me.
Image 12 illustrates how nice this lace front looks on.
There is some permatease on Siciliano. Not too much, just enough to obscure her wefts and to give you some lift on top. It’s a perfect amount in my opinion.
I love the under knotted hair along the ear tabs. It gives you the styling ability to have the hair swept back way off your face and even tucked behind yours ears. The ear tabs are soft felt which I prefer over open ear tabs. They aren’t super stiff so wearing glasses is no problem at all. When I first started wearing wigs I preferred stiff ear tabs and strong metal stays. I felt more secure and thought they helped keep my wig on better. I’ve changed my opinion over time. Hair tucked behind your ears looks more realistic on wigs with thinner and/or smaller ear tabs. If I really want to feel secure that my wig won’t come off I use ItStays.
One thing I’m not a fan of are the chintzy plastic bra type buckle adjusters on BelleTress wigs as shown in image 15. They will loosen up over time (so you’ll need to re-adjust them) and the plastic buckles break. I have had wigs come to me brand new with the adjusters already broken. I think it’s time for BelleTress to up their game in this category….in my humble opinion. 😉
Siciliano is very comfy on. She fit like a glove. Definitely smaller that true to average which most BelleTress wigs are. This is good news for me but something to keep in mind if your head is on the larger size. So the nape is very short 1.5” but the back length of “8 covers up the nape so these pretty curls are all you see. A wonderful length for summer. I don’t know about you but I hate hair on my neck in hot weather. I keep my neck shaved (de fuzzed) because I almost never wear wigs that match/blend with my bio hair color. 😂 So bare in mind you will most likely need to shave your neck to wear Siciliano.
Image 17 illustrates this lovely curl pattern in all its glory. The length is even all the way around.
Such a sweet naturally dense curly style. If you wear pixies and love curls and think you can’t wear longer styles Siciliano would be a wonderful choice to dip your toes in the “long” hair world.
Another thing I love about this shorter length is I can wear earrings and they’ll show!
Image 20 shows off this light soft root color very well.
The take away here is if you love curls want a realistic non shiny wig that’ll fit your aver/petite head in a style that won’t over power you with a lace front and mono part for realism then you’ll love Siciliano by BelleTress. I honestly can’t rave enough about her. I highly recommend her..enjoy!
Hi folks Kathleen here with my review of Zoey. My thoughts comparisons and why at the time of this review Zoey is not listed on CysterWigs website.
What is EnvyHair? It’s an even blend of 30% human hair and 70% heat friendly Synthetic hair. Zoey is a mid length effortless style that is 100% hand tied with a lace front and mono part. There is nothing that compares to a 100% hand tied cap. Zoey is no exception and is very comfortable to wear. I have been very curious about EnvyHair and wanted to see for myself how realistic this hair looked and felt and how she held up. Scrolling through WigCloseouts.com (CysterWigs clearance site) I saw Zoey was offered in Light Red/ Lighter Red. She was a great price( still the most money I ever spent on a wig aprox. $600) and I decided to purchase her.
I was so excited to get her. My first impressions were good… she wasn’t shiny…the color was a little darker that I expected but pretty. I couldn’t wait to try her on.
Her fibers were very silky. They felt like a cross between BelleTress and Raquel Welch HF fibers. Here’s the difference though, I kept running my hands through her while I was styling her and getting a feel for her. I can tell you that if I had done the same thing to my Crowd Pleaser by Raquel Welch
she would have started clumping and tangling like crazy. So far I was impressed with this EnvyHair.
I took out that zig zag part that hopefully manufacturers are moving away from. (I will explain the significance of that statement later in this article.) She has a beautiful parting area. Her knots are small and believable spaced.
Image 4 illustrates the beautiful part I achieved on Zoey and keep in mind that I am pickier than I would be on a less expensive wig.
I was happy with her light hair density. She had some body to her style which I also really liked. The highlights are very subtle. The color is a gorgeous medium red auburn. The movement of this Envy hair was very realistic.
The length is so pretty. She goes past my shoulders just a little. I love the long side sweeping bang. I think its very flattering and sexy. I know she can be heat styled as well which is a nice option.
I have a Hunter by Tony of Beverly in Sunset Red. She’s also 100% hand tied with a lace front and mono top. The main difference (aside from the cost, Hunter is under $400) she has a much shorter bang and she’s made with regular synthetic hair. She has more hair than Zoey as well. Style wise I prefer Zoey. Color wise I prefer Sunset Red. One important note Hunter is very roomy on my petite/ average head whereas Zoey fit me perfectly. I was thrilled with how well she fit me. 😉 One thing I found out right away is Hunter will tangle at the nape and ends. Pretty easily as most wigs this length will. I use Simply Styling on her. I like that it get tangles out but doesn’t leave a product buildup. On the other hand Zoey just didn’t seem to want to tangle. 😉
Image 8 shows these two beauties side by side. (I combed Hunters hair over her bangs and trimmed it a little to give her a more side swept look.)
Hunter is fuller and image 9 illustrates that difference well. I would say Hunter has average hair density compared to the light hair density of Zoey. I come from the super thin bio hair world so I feel more like me with Zoey on.
Now a little back story on Zoey and why you won’t find her at this time on CysterWigs website. I was going to return her when I first received her. I had a couple of concerns. She had very thin areas of hair in a couple of places especially at the crown.Too thin in my opinion and her lace front was void of hair at the temples to the point where I felt it would be hard to style her to hide it. For the kind of money I spent I expected much better quality. Btw I purchased the $20 return insurance because if I didn’t love her I was going to return her. Money well spent especially on such an expensive purchase. This option gave me peace of mind to try Zoey in the first place. I didn’t think I would want to return her over quality issues. This is before I re parted her or styled her (I was careful not to void my ability to return her at this point)
I emailed Heather over my concerns. Heathers response is why I admire her so much and why I am a loyal customer and why I’m so proud to work for CysterWigs. I believe in her mission statement. 😉 To be on the safe side she was going to pull Zoey from the site. She didn’t even hesitate. In other words her integrity and concern over her clients came before her profits. She is now in the process of testing Zoey to determine if this is a continuing quality issue.
Remember I said earlier I would explain my comment about manufacturers zig zag parts on wigs? I was prepared to return Zoey until I decided to check the part area…I pushed the hair aside to get a better look at it( being careful not to disturb the zig zag part 😉) and then I turned the wig upside down and looked through the mono top against the light coming from a window. Hmmm there were a couple of very sparse areas on the cap but the whole mono top looked very nice from what I could tell. Well my stubborn streak kicked in and I re parted Zoey..It looked amazing and now of course I was keeping her… it’s how I roll. 😂
Heather mentioned in one of her recent videos that manufacturers are getting away from those silly looking zig zag parts. I hope so because honestly if I had not re parted Zoey I would have returned her. I my opinion there would be a lot less returns if manufacturers gave their wigs nice normal parts. Right now it’s a catch twenty two. It’s hard to see what a wig looks like unless you part her and if you part her you void return policies..ugh 😫 I’ve had only one wig that came to me with a beautiful pristine part already in place and that was my beautiful Mia by TressAllure in Sunset Glow. Bravo TressAllure! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Image 11 is the main reason I was going to return Zoey. Her lace front is simply void of hair at the temples especially on the side I’m showing you. I honestly was sick over it because Zoey was so pretty in so many other ways. Hunters lace front is impeccable and what I expected from Zoey. To repeat myself… if I had not parted her I would have returned her. Attention wig manufacturers: if you gave your wigs natural parts instead of zig zag ones you would have a lot less returns. Ok ok I’m off my soapbox now.😉
Here is Zoey on me (image 12) from a little distance. There are a few straggly hairs knotted at the temple but that’s it. Its a shame because this is the side you would want to put behind your ear..or style off your face. Now remember at this point I have decided to keep her. I am falling more in love as time goes by. I had to fix this.
My answer to this problem turns out to be quite an easy fix. I kept pulling these few hairs (illustrated in mage 13) down over the bare area (lace void of hair) and since this is a blend of human and HF fibers it didn’t take long before the warmth of my hands started straightening that hair so it covered the problem area. To make sure I took my Jon Renau steamer (it has a small tube nozzle to steam small areas) and I just zapped with steam this hair so it would lay flat against the lace. I haven’t found the need to but you could use a dab of ItStays at the temple and tap the hair onto the lace for extra security.
Image 14 illustrates Zoey after I decided to keep her and I was getting ready to go out to dinner. I have already steamed her hair over the temple void of hair and played around with parting options but so far I love the side part.
I especially love the swoop of the long side fringe and the way the front came already steamed off the face. Casual elegance at its finest.
The first day I received Zoey I went to dinner with my hubby and had no problem at all keeping the hair out of my mouth when eating. That is an important test in my book…lol. About half way through dinner he told me he had forgotten this wasn’t my real hair. That’s quite a testimony since he has seen a gazillion wigs on me at this point. 😂
Image 17 illustrates Zoey with wind blowing directly in my face (another crazy weather day here in Georgia) 😜 All kidding aside it’s a great way to show you how the fibers move on a wig. The side I steamed to cover the temple area stayed put and looks very natural. This lace front is really quite beautiful. I do hope Envy fixes the quality issues with Zoey.
I am going to do a wear test on her. How do these fibers wear over time? Is the hype of this EnvyHair blend worth the cost? I will say I wore Zoey a good 6 hours that first day including going out to dinner and still no tangling and very little clumping if at all. Granted that’s just my initial opinion. I am curious to see how she feels after a wash. I will post an update on her after I have tested her for awhile. Overall if the quality issues are fixed by Envy I think Zoey is a fabulous relaxed natural density mid length style that is universally flattering. So until next time enjoy Wig Lovers! 🙋
