Hi folks Kathleen here with a review of Celebrity by Raquel Welch. This Celebrity is from my personal collection and one I’ve had for awhile. I will not only give you my thoughts on her but how she has held up. She was one of my first “longer” wigs. I had fallen in love with this color Glazed Fire R28s+ from my RW wig Voltage and couldn’t wait to get another RW wig in Glazd Fire R28S+. I was sold on getting Celebrity once I saw Heather’s review.
The length is very wearable…the nape is 6 inches and is a great length to try if you haven’t worn longer styles before.
Image 3 is a collage I made when I first received Celebrity so this is how she looked right out of the box. She is a shake and go wig if you like. I always play with my wigs but what is so nice about this one is you don’t have to. That’s refreshing since lately I’ve received a few wigs that need a lot of attention before they are wearable. The front of Celebrity is a bit more formal and the sides and back are more loosely curled. A beachy wave really. Actually her formal front and informal back reminds me of Raquel Welch’s new Simmer in that sense.
The hair fibers have a medium denier. The shine is average as well. The hair density is realistic. Even though this is a hand tied wig there is plenty of hair to get some nice volume on top. This does not have a flat top. I like that about Celebrity.
On me she just grazes the shoulders and for reference I’m 5’5”☺️
Why bother with the expense of a hand tied wig? I ask myself thar all the time until I put one on and swear (for a brief moment 😉) I will only wear 100% hand tied wigs from now on. The number one reason you might think is realism but for me its comfort. I have bio hair but its so thin. Wefts definitely can get itchy at times. Celebrity is a dream to put on and wear. She is so soft.
Image 7 & 8 & 9 showcases her monofilament features.
Look at mage 9 such a very realistic lace front and mono top here. Not perfect just like in real life. Celebrity is on a wig head and she still looks soooooo realistic. She will not disappoint you. I found the lace to be relatively soft. I have a three The New Romantics by RW and the lace fronts on those are fairly stiff and scratchy. Celebrity is deluxe in every way.
This color…a gorgeous Irish Red. A rich vibrant highlighted light to medium copper. Raquel Welch doesn’t offer this color on her newer styles which is a shame. I love this color. I have a neutral undertone to my skin and every time I wear this Glazed Fire my skin takes on even more of a peachy tone than it normal has. Basically a neutral undertone will be the same as your surface skin color. In my case my skin on the surface looks peachy and my undertone is peachy and picks up what ever color I am wearing and this includes hair (wig) color. 😊
Image 12 illustrates where the weight of Celebrity’s style is. She is a bit top heavy/full around the upper third of your face and then gradually tappers off towards the ends. Since I have an oblong face I like some volume on the sides to balance my face shape.
Some of my wigs tend to dry out even if I have hardly worn them. Time not just how many times you’ve worn and cleaned your wig ages them. Sometimes the silicone manufacturers put on their wigs to make them silky and soft wears off just by playing with them or you wash it once and they are never the same. They become very dry and require a lot of Jon Renau Detangler and Simply Stylin silicone spray. Well Celebrity feels as soft as she was when I first got her. Sure she’ll tangle but not very much and a little spray from JR’s Detangler a quick comb through and she’s ready to go. I have worn her at least two dozen times and have washed her 3 o 4 times and she is holding up very well.
If you can treat yourself to a hand tied wig you couldn’t do any better than Celebrity. Her length and curls are very flattering. The workmanship is beautiful. The lace front and mono top are very realistic. Its nice to know she is durable. Often we make a review but couldn’t tell you its durability. Well with Celebrity I can say I am as happy with her as the day I received her. Enjoy!
