After a quick delivery, I was giddy to break out my new Chameleon topper. As detailed in my previous post, I’ve got stick-straight blonde hair that is so easy to work with—but the tradeoff is, it doesn’t do ANYTHING. As an added bonus, I’ve amassed a generous amount of damage the past six months, and my volume is so dismal that when I was finally ready to spice things up with some bangs, my stylist point-blank refused because I don’t have enough hair. How’s that for a damaged-hair wake-up call.
So, instead of staring at the clock for the next year waiting for my hair to grow, I found myself at Cysterwigs perusing all the pretty wigs and toppers, longing for some added volume and notable bangs.
The first fun thing I noticed was the packaging—a pristine, grey box without a dent in it, and no messy, unsightly tape. Simply pop it open, and feast your eyes on beautimus hair!
When first picking up the Chameleon topper, I quickly noticed how similar the synthetic strands felt in comparison to my own hair. I was pretty surprised, since I’ve never experienced a topper or wig before and was expecting – well – I guess I’m not quite sure what I was expecting. But I wasn’t anticipating it would feel as soft and real as my own locks.
After the fumbling with the mane, I spent some time checking out the color. At first glance I thought what I selected (R21T Sandy Blonde) may have been much too light for my hair (I’m guessing I was internally wishing I was a shade blonder than I actually am, and my hopes transcended into my pick). I considered packing it up and sending it back to the helpful gals at Cysterwigs, but when I held the topper up to my hair, I noticed that I was a color wiz after all. The sun-bleached lower half of my hair is a light tone, while my roots are growing out darker. The topper matched the lower section of my hair seamlessly, creating a natural look with pops of highlights I would never have achieved without a visit to a top-notch colorist.
Initially, I was a little confused and made a newbie mistake – I tried to place the topper on sideways, then backward, and was a little perplexed when the hair kept sliding off my face or why it was shorter in the black and super long in the front. But when I finally turned my brain on and got it together, the hair clips made the Chameleon topper quite easy to affix, and after a few minutes of positioning, I got it right where I wanted it.
BANGY, VOLUMINOUS GALORE! After a few quick brushes and some minor styling, I couldn’t believe the transformation! I went from flat, boring, stick-hair to luscious bangs and actual volume. The way the topper blended with my hair and gave me a serious boost on the bang scale was everything that I was looking for. Thank you Cysterwigs for the stellar new hairstyle and amazing experience!
