Hi folks Kathleen here with a few simple ways I “tweaked” Sweet Talk by Gabor in the gorgeous color Sugared Silver. I loved this style and color right away but still there were a couple of things I wanted to do so she would look better on me.
The first thing I wanted to do was dunk her in a sink of cold water. Why you ask? Out of the box the curls were a little straighter on one side. Hopefully this was just box hair. By wetting Sweet Talk, I was hoping her would curls would come back to life. I had already used my water bottle( shout out to Taz for this excellent tip ) and spritzed her with water and scrunched her curls and it did seem to help. So in the sink of cold water she went. I then patted her dry, and gave her a good shake over my bath tub( to help separate the hair fibers from the cap and each other) and hung her upside down to dry. I also scrunched her occasionally as shes drying and sprayed her with Simply Stylin shown on a shelf in image 2
After she dried I separated her curls with my fingers(I still have not combed her with a JR wide tooth comb) and scrunched, and re- twirled some of her curls. That worked wonderfully, she was fuller, and her curls were more defined, and separated. After I tried her on again I thought a bang would work better for my face shape, so I cut 2” off. I also thinned her just a bit around the face. I took small strands of hair and twisted them. Then at an upward angle I took a few snips going down the strand of hair with my thinning shears. Image 1 illustrates how much hair I removed, as you can see not very much.
Below using my High Impact by Gabor I illustrate in image 4 & 5 how I trim the bangs. I could go back and texturized the ends a bit. This would refine the bangs some more. This is the simply basic way I trim bangs.
By twisting the hair your bang won’t be straight across once trimmed. She will curve very slightly, and look softer.
If hair you are cutting is curled or has a lot of body, I have found a 5” bang works well. For me the top of my forehead to the end of my nose measures about 5”. So its a great guide when trimming bangs. Cut straight across. Your bang will be slightly higher in the middle. So easy to do and comes out great every time.
Hmm now I like my High Impact more. 😉
Back to my Sweet Talk. 😂 Here are close up before and after images. Hopefully you can see the nuanced differences thinning the front and trimming the bangs make.
The take away here “tweaking” your wigs by trimming the bangs are really easy. So is thinning/texturizing your wigs. What a huge difference these little changes can make. Be brave and ENJOY! 🙋
