Whether you’re suffering from thinning hair or preparing for severe hair loss, selecting the right wig can be a difficult task. Not only is it essential to choose a hairpiece that provides ample coverage, but it must also be comfortable enough for a woman to wear confidently. The question is whether you should opt for a full wig or a hair topper (partial wig).

Whereas a wig provides total head coverage, hair toppers provide coverage for one targeted area. Hair toppers clip into the existing hair, while wigs are work with a wig cap or overtop a grip. Both wigs and hair toppers can be made with synthetic or human hair, and both are available in a variety of colors and styles.

The Benefits of Wigs

Wigs are the best choice for women experiencing total hair loss. Whether hair loss stems from chemotherapy, alopecia, or genetic reasons, wigs allow women to feel beautiful and confident every day. Wigs are generally low maintenance and women who wear them remark on the amount of time they save getting ready each morning.

The Benefits of Hair Toppers

Hair toppers are an excellent option for women experiencing partial hair loss or thinning hair. They can be worn with the existing hair, and even styled in a bun or ponytail. Since hair toppers are incorporated into the natural hair, they tend to offer a natural appearance. Hair toppers also come in a variety of different styles so you can pick and choose the size depending on your specific hair loss.

Which Should I Choose?

Are you experiencing partial or gradual hair loss? Do you want to add length and volume to your natural hair? If so, hair toppers remain an excellent solution. If you’re experiencing total hair loss, consider trying a wig on for size to achieve overall coverage!

How-to shop Toppers vs. Wigs

Start with Style

At the beginning, you may want to stick close to a style you’re familiar with. A more drastic change can always be made later as you get used to wearing a wig. That’s when the fun begins. Just think endless style flexibility! Many of our clients ultimately have a lot of fun experimenting with a variety of looks. Certain face shapes are flattered by certain styles. Our site lets you quickly narrow your search by length, texture, and hairstyle.

Find Your Capsize

While average size wigs tend to fit about 95% of customers, you’ll find that quite a few wigs also come in petite and large sizes. Consider that many also have adjustable straps that give up to 1/2″ so that you can achieve a comfortable and secure fit.

To determine the right size for you, measure the circumference of your head from the front hairline, behind your ear, to the nape of your neck, to your other ear and then back to the front hairline.

What Type of Hair is Right for You?

When considering composition, or how a wig or topper is structured, think about the hair type as well as the cap construction. While you may have preconceived notions about human hair and synthetic hair, the truth is that they both have advantages and limitations, which make them the right choice in different situations.

At CysterWigs, we specialize in human hair wigs, partial pieces, and toppers to cover any level of hair loss. Whether your hair loss is only temporary or a permanent occurrence, or is medically-related, we will be able to create the look you want with a high-quality wig, topper, or partial piece.

Oh this was so helpful!..there was a time I thought about a topper (I have naturally ultrafine hair) but in-the end my hair is too fine(not enough for clips and not believable enough to blend with a topper)..they look like so much fun though..thanks for such an informative article..xxox
