Kathleen: Review of United by Ellen Wille in Pastel Blonde Mix & color comparisons

I have been on a mission to find a platinum blonde that works with my skin tone and coloring. After mulling over Ellen Wille’s United wig in Pastel Blonde Mix ever since I saw Taz’s review of this exact wig I finally pulled the trigger and purchased her. I am so glad I did. Nordic blonde is a good description of this color. It’s a very very light blonde and is just shy of being a true ash (cool devoid of any warm tones) platinum. I love this color. ❤️

United is a chin length razored shaggy bob. So soft and dare I say fluffy?

I know one doesn’t usually describe wig hair fibers as fluffy but boy this hair looks…feels….and behaves like real hair. The fibers are so baby fine. This is the closest to my own bio hair that I have found. I am thrilled with the quality and realism of this wig.

Below illustrates the impeccable lace front and mono part on United.

Even up close you cannot tell this is a wig. I had my husband get up close to see if he could see the knots (he has better eyes than me 😉) he couldn’t…he was blown away. This is hands down the best most realistic lace front I have ever seen. What I found very interesting about this lace front is that there was no extra lace along the front edge. It was trimmed right up to where the knots began. Very impressive.

Below is a color comparison of Raquel Welch’s Shaded Cream on Pure Allure and my Pastel Blonde Mix on my new United Wig. Forgive the quality of the Shaded Cream image (old iPad image 😜) but you can see this is a true ash (cool) Platinum (with a gorgeous subtle root I might add) compared to EW PBM which has just enough honey blonde in the mix to neutralize it.

Below in image 6) I compare similar blondes to Pastel Blonde Mix. I love TressAllure’s Silky Sand (on Charlotte) but I am not a fan of this dark of a root (contrast) on a blonde this light. I would say Silky Sand also has a tad more gold blonde in the mix. Creamy Blonde by Amore (on Phoenix) is very similar also. Its unrooted like PBM but the color is very blended and again is a tad warmer than Ellen Wille’s Pastel Blonde Mix. PBM has depth to the color. Its very natural looking and so I have no problem with it being unrooted. This is the color I had when I was three years old. Its really so beautiful photos don’t do it justice.

The only downside I can find are the fly ways hair..lol 😜 To be honest anyone with baby fine hair knows about these. A little Simply Styling silicone spray on my hands….pat them down …works very nicely.

I love this style its so flattering. I have an oblong but “full” face and the density and feathery layers of United hug my face in all the right places. The wispy ends add to the realism and movement of this wig. I highly recommend both this color and style together….just perfect…ENJOY!

Wonderful review Kathleen, you color comparisons are the best! I love United also, I think the fibers are so soft and really do feel like “bio” hair. I love your reviews, I learn something new every time, you are such a pro at them and your artist eye brings the colors and pictures to life! Awesome job!

Kathleen, your review is so comprehensive, so in-depth, that I marvel about my having a question: Does United have an extended nape? If not, does it tend to ride up (my usual problem)? I also have a pet-av head size, and although EW wigs fit me well, I have no problem with JR or RW either. But that little extra at the nape is, for me, where I put a swatch of tape. Makes all the difference, imo. At least for me. (Kristen isn’t my go-to wig, mainly because it lacks that little bit of fabric…). So???

You look marvelous in this pastel color! I would have thought you’d veer towards the caramel or bernstein light colors. I’m divided between those shades–and hedging about going into the gray scale. Funny, since my biohair is now darkish gray with whitish gray at the hairline. Eh–call it denial (probably the correct explanation.) For summery clothes, though, light blondes hit the fashion spot! Many thanks for your review. At the price, it’s an extremely tempting wig!

      Hi there Carol!

This is Gina from CysterWigs. I notified Kathleen that you left a sweet comment on her post. I LOVE her reviews too! She’s pretty amazing. 🙂

I just wanted to pop in and say that yes United by EW does have an extended felt nape. You mentioned that you are having problems with your wigs riding up. One main cause for this is not necessarily the lack of an extended nape but rather the size of the wig itself. Here’s an article from our Knowledge Base with more info on this:

Carol, have you measured yourself yet?
Here are some tutorials to help you. Having a wig in the right cap size is so important!

Hi Carol Thanks for the lovely comments :-)….and thank you Gina..you answered Carols question and then some you’re the best! Carol I have been dying to find a very light blonde that could be my “platinum” and I’m thrilled with the Pastel Blonde Mix. If she came in an light Irish red I’d get another in a heartbeat..lol 😉 I will say that EW caps fit very nicely. I also have a petite/ average head and I like that EW caps usually run on the small side of average. Having said that my United is a little big. Not crazy big or anything but I do need to tighten the adjusters. The cap itself isn’t big just the perimeter of the wig. I so agree with you on prefering the extended nape. Thanks for visiting ..all the best Kathleen
