Hi folks Kathleen here with my review thoughts and comparisons for Nikki by Belle Tress in Cayenne With Ginger Root. This is a new style for Belle Tress and this wig was sent to me by Heather (CEO & founder of CysterWigs) to review. Thank you Heather..spot on choice for me! 👏🏻I will say right off the bat I LOVE this style. I thought the color might be too dark for me but like all Belle Tress’s colors its beautiful and nuanced. Overall it’s a medium to dark natural red based auburn. The root is a medium to dark brown. I was pleasantly surprised that the root wasn’t really long. As a matter of fact with all the texture and natural volume of Nikki it just gives the color some dimension. I’m happy with that because I don’t feel I need a root on a darker color and I certainly don’t want a long root. This root is beautiful.
Ok I’ll admit I thought the product photo was a little wild..lol. But what I did see was an all over choppy layered short shag..hmmm interesting. I think I can work with this. She has heat defiant fibers so you can curl her more or straighten her. Not me though I think her texture is perfect right out of the box. I have a Belle Tress Mimosa in Champagne With Apple Pie and I did customize her by trimming the back and thinning the front a bit. I like her better…but In short Nikki is the style I wished Mimosa was..lol.
Both have shaggy layers. Nikki is more of a traditional long shaggy pixie. The style has more balance than Mimosa in my opinion. Mimosa was top heavy and the nape was too long for the rest of the style. Another thing Mimosa didn’t have that Nikki has are longer adequately covering sideburns (for lack of a better name 😉) I have to work with my Mimosa to cover my sideburn area.
The back view of Mimosa and Nikki illustrates the difference in layering. Nikki has more shorter and curled/textured layers than Mimosa.
This side view illustrates the “60’s bump” at the crown that Mimosa has (yes there is permatease here) Nikki overall has a lot less permatease. None at the nape like Mimosa has. Just a little on top around the mono part. I still love Mimosa but that is mainly because I love this blonde…Champagne With Apple Pie.
I am impressed with the well made lace front and side part on Nikki. The knots are average size but the spacing is very well done and in the past Belle Tress hasn’t been known for their great mono features.
Here’s a little back story about my experience with Belle Tress. I owned a M&M and though I loved the style and color (Honey With Chai Latte) I thought the lace front and mono part were awful..very dense in a weird way and it didn’t lay right. I had to pluck the part and lace front to make it more manageable. What that does when it’s your first experience with a manufacturer is you get turned off. I was hesitant to try another style. Fast forward I was given one of Heathers exclusive colored non HD Biscotti Babes (mine was in Strawberry Cream Soda) and honestly I was blown away with the quality of lace front and mono part. Sooo I took another chance and purchased Mimosa. It also had an amazing lace front and mono part. I don’t think this is a coincidence. I feel Belle Tress heard our complaints about their mono features and have upped their game and improved their quality. I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase from them in the future…👍🏻
So back to Nikki..lol 😉I have a petite/average head size (if you’re interested I give my head measurements at the end of this post) Nikki fits me to a tee. I don’t know what I am more excited about the style or the fit. I always take in the adjusters even on my Ellen Wille wigs. Not this one. I always have some bunching over my ears (my head is totally flat in this area 😂) this one fits like a glove..such a great feeling. Having said that this cap obviously runs small. So if your head is a true average it might be a snug fit. I wouldn’t recommend her if you have an average/large or large head. So sorry about that but if you have a smaller head or a true petite head you’ll love the fit of Nikki.
Lets talk about the texture of Nikki. Btw..I haven’t used any product in her for any of the photos I’m sharing with you. The volume is from the curl and texture of Nikki. There are two things going on with this texture. The curl and the razored straighter sections throughout the style. If you want you can style her more traditionally like in the collage at the beginning of this post. But If you take a curl and pull it out all the way you’ll get little razored strands that give this style movement crazy texture and I think alleviates it to a whole new level. Its gorgeous!
Look at the beautiful texture in image 9. No product used and this style will stay like this all day. No flopping.
The color (Cayenne With Ginger Root) is beautiful. Even in fairly strong sunlight ( image 10)its still going to read on the cooler side of auburn. See how the dark roots just give it dimension but don’t interfere with the color.
Below in image 11 I went for broke to see how much movement I could achieve with this crazy texture. I love it! I definitely will be getting another one in their new color Champagne With Apple Pie. Nikki reminds me of Raquel Welch’s short textured pixie Power if you grew it out. 😉 The take away here is if you love a textured shag and are tired of all your wigs swimming on you then I would highly recommend getting Nikki. ENJOY!
Below is a little video I did right out of the box. You might notice a little white spec when I turn around. It isn’t a weft..its a little white tag that I have since removed..😊
