Hey Cysters! Morgan here with some topper updates.
It’s been over a month now since I got my charming little Chameleon topper/bang filler from the fine folks at Cysterwigs. I’m in my late twenties and I’m flaunting terribly damaged hair from way too much salt and sun exposure. I’m currently working on trying to get my hair healthier, happier and stronger. Till then, this topper business is freaking money, and I’ve been reveling in the diversity it’s given my never-styled, do-nothing ‘do!
When my stylist told me, “Nope, no bangs for you ‘til you get some more volume back,” my drive to undermine authority was like, “Whelp—I guess I’m buying myself some freaking bangs then.” After nervously and a bit hesitantly receiving my topper, my wig fears proved to be very misguided. Instead, the topper has been such a useful tool in diversifying my look. The bangs were initially a bit long for my taste( you can see that in my previous post where I dusted them down to fit my face a bit better).
So how has the topper worked for me in real, out-of-the-house life? Instead of sharing updates with me walking around my messy abode, I decided to don my Chameleon topper at my second, equally-messy home—the beach. Apart from my desk job, I’m a sand and sea enthusiast (hence the sun damage), and I spend a small part of each day by the shoreline doing a bit of recharging and rejuvenation. I’ve been a bit hesitant to wear the topper here, and haven’t yet been brave enough to wear it in the water—but I decided a little shoreline reading and relaxation was the perfect way to ease my topper into my sunny, salty residence.
When I received the Chameleon topper, the strands were a bit light for my hair initially, but after some more sun exposure over the last month, my own hair has lightened up a bit to match the topper better. I was a bit afraid of a windy day convoluting my hairdo into a confusing mess. But during my stroll down to the Pacific, the air was calm and serene. To my surprise (and relief) everything held firm.
There was a really, really great plus to bringing my volumizing little buddy with me to the beach. Sunscreen is my ultimate bff since I’m frolicking outside so dang much, but I don’t think anyone’s invented sunscreen for your hair or head yet (unless you’re sporting a hat.) My hair boringly falls into the same part every day, and there’s no changing it—it’s like a wrinkle beyond repair of the strongest Botox. Every time I’m at the beach without a hat I end up with a red, horribly sunburned scalp that eventually flakes off into dandruff desperation.
The awesome thing about wearing my topper to the beach beside being able to sport luscious, lovely bangs? No sunburned scalp!
The Chameleon topper has been a great companion for any day outdoors. I haven’t encountered a windy day yet (anyone have any advice for that?), but I think it’s safe to say that I’ll be wearing my topper during my reading trips to the ocean.
