I love red hair…the rich true Irish type reds. Maybe its my Irish heritage but I have always adored a gorgeous head of red hair. My two favorites to date are Gabor’s Dark Copper and Raquel Welch’s Glazed Fire. Both are vibrant reds..no brownish reds here. In this article I will very simply illustrate the similarities and differences in these two gorgeous reds.
In photo 2) you can see even on my covered deck with indirect natural light these colors are vibrant. The Dark Copper shown on my favorite High Impact is overall a shade or so darker and not as warm or fiery red as the Glazed Fire on my Voltage. From the front view they look pretty close in value (how light or dark a color is) and that is because the Dark Copper’s bright red highlights are concentrated around the face which lightens up the color value. In photo 3) you can see the value difference more clearly in bright direct sunlight. Gabor’s Dark Copper is clearly darker than Raquel Welch’s Glazed Fire. From the back you can see the main color difference between the dark red auburn base color of Dark Copper vs Glazed Fire which is primarily a blend of intense Irish reds. Yes there are intense Irish red highlights in the Dark Copper but its predominately a medium to dark rich red auburn.
In photo 4) my collage showcasing Dark Copper you can see how dynamic this color is. Red based auburn with lots of highlights throughout. I tend to look best in warmer colors so the concentration of lighter warmer red highlights framing the face really sold me on this color. Overall this is a medium to dark red based auburn and the lighter warmer red highlights give this color just enough warmth so I can wear and enjoy this luscious hue.
In photo 5) I showcase Raquel Welch’s Glazed Fire in a collage of an all time favorite wig style of mine the Voltage. Bright but not garish..very authentic Irish Auburn. Surprisingly this color is less dynamic and more blended than Gabor’s Dark Copper. The overall color is the highlight color in Dark Copper. That is what ties these two colors together. If you put these two wigs side by side they look like one blends into the other color wise. They aren’t interchangeable but they are sister hues. Different but from the same family.?
Photos 6) & 7) illustrates that the overall color of RW Glazed Fire is the highlight color on Gabor’s Dark Copper. Such beautiful colors so much prettier than these photos illustrate. I love both colors equally. So if you are wondering about trying a red I say go for it. There is a red for everyone. Enjoy! …?
