What happened to the “Dud List”

Remember the Dud List?

If you don’t, then let me bring you up to speed: I used to maintain a “Dud List” of wigs that I thought were either grossly overpriced for what they were, had shoddy craftsmanship, or caused a LOT of returns due to quality concerns.

My suppliers were not always super happy with this list, as you can probably imagine.

In lieu of maintaining that list, we have instead opted to take a softer approach.

We will not carry a wig that we think might have quality problems. This has prompted us to remove entire product lines from the site as well as individual styles and colors.

If you see we could carry a wig because the rest of the brand is represented, BUT it isn’t there, you can almost always assume that it’s either been discontinued OR we just didn’t feel comfortable selling it to people.

This may be either because I don’t know enough about the wig to feel comfortable selling it, it’s not a good fit for our store, or because of quality issues that might otherwise put it on the “Dud List.”

I am OK missing out on any potential sales that I wouldn’t be able to make in good conscience. Half the reason I started selling wigs was to help people with stuff like this! (Plus, I like being able to sleep at night.)

TL; DR — I don’t want to sell crappy wigs…so we list things conservatively to ensure we don’t. 😉
