What is the recommended care for a blended-fiber wig?

Synthetic-safe care products will not damage the human hair in these blended-fiber wigs, but human-hair products may damage the heat-friendly synthetic fiber of the blend. We recommend that you use the same care techniques that you would for synthetics, since that material generally makes up about 70% of the wig.

Heather’s personal care routine for these wigs:

Use just a little fabric softener in lukewarm water and swish the hair around. There is no need for any scrubbing or harsh chemicals.

Rinse by filling a basin with clean, cold water and gently swishing. Repeat until water is clear.

Condition with a leave-in conditioner, such as Jon Reanu’s HD Smooth Detangler.

You may also want to consider using a silicon spray (like the Simply Stylin’ spray in our store) to restore the protective silicone anti-static coating on the hair between washings.

Gentle is the name of the game for keeping these wigs looking their prettiest!

Hello! I keep getting conflicting information about how to care for a human/synthetic blend. I have an Envy Lynsey wig and I am not sure if I need to use wig products for human hair or for synthetic hair. Should I wash and condition it with synthetic shampoo and conditioner? Does it need to be misted with conditioner to prevent drying like human hair? I have read that I should use synthetic products if I decide to heat style it. Also, this blog mentions using Simply Stylin, but I thought Heather said that you shouldn’t use silicon on human hair because it prevents it from being able to absorb moisture. 🙂

If you could let me know what to buy I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Blended fibers are pretty tricky. As this article was written by Heather, I would personally follow her recommendations to treat the wig more as a synthetic than human hair. I think there could be more damage or static build up to the synthetic fibers when not caring for it than the lack of the human hair to hold up moisture.
